Meet Sam Rosemark

Rooted in District 44

I’ve spent my entire life in North St. Paul, Maplewood, and Oakdale, and my family has deep roots here. My late grandfather, Jim Krause, dedicated his life to the trades and unions, helping shape our community and even surveying the land for Tartan High School.

I grew up in a working-class family—my dad ran our family bakery, and I spent time helping out there on the weekends and during the summer. My mom owns and runs her own hair salon. These experiences taught me the value of hard work, perseverance, and community.

From playing football at Tartan High School to exploring Minnesota’s outdoors—fishing, camping, and snowmobiling—I developed a lifelong love of community, nature, and teamwork.

Professional Experience

I’ve built my career serving communities and learning how government works at every level:

  • Director of Advocacy, University of Minnesota Alumni Association – Over four years I worked with legislators, volunteers, and community partners, building relationships and understanding the inner workings of the Minnesota State Capitol. I advocated for increased funding and support for one of our state’s most important institutions when it comes driving our economy and health forward – the University of Minnesota and its five campuses.
  • Congressional and State Experience – I served in Congresswoman Betty McCollum’s district office and worked as a field organizer for her campaign, learning how to connect with constituents and solve real problems. I also interned for Senator Chuck Wiger, who held this Senate seat before Tou Xiong, while in my senior year of college. At the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs I assisted with efforts to help improve the care and services our state’s heroes receive and deserve.
  • City & County Work – I worked in the Minneapolis Health Department during COVID-19 and Hennepin County’s Environment & Energy Department, gaining hands-on experience in public health, environmental sustainability, and government operations.
  • Sustainability Leadership – I helped secure a $550,000 grant for electric school buses in Morris, MN, showing how smart public investments can save money, reduce emissions, and improve community health.

Through these roles, I’ve seen firsthand how effective governance can strengthen communities and improve lives—and I’m ready to bring that knowledge to the Minnesota State Senate.

Community Service

Serving the community has been at the heart of my life:

  • ISD 622 School Board Director – Elected to fill a one-year vacancy, I work with the community to ensure students, families, and educators have the support they need. I was proud to win every precinct with 62.5% of the vote.
  • Washington County Heading Home Committee – Appointed to provide community input on homelessness prevention and housing support.
  • North St. Paul—Maplewood—Oakdale Rotary Club – Volunteer for local service projects, including youth literacy programs.

These roles have taught me the importance of listening, collaboration, and turning community needs into action.

A Commitment to Minnesota Families

My story is one of integrity, service, and hard work. From my family’s deep roots in Senate District 44 to professional and volunteer experiences across every level of government, I’ve built the skills to advocate for all Minnesotans, strong schools, and a sustainable future.

I’m running for the Minnesota State Senate to give back to the community that gave me so much and to make sure every family in Senate District 44 has the chance to thrive.
