Priorities
Education
Our public schools are the foundation of strong communities and a strong economy, yet they’re being asked to do more with less. Adjusted for inflation, Minnesota schools receive less funding today than in 2003, even as student needs and costs have increased. Too often, schools are forced to rely on local property taxes and levies, rather than the state taking full responsibility for funding education.
As a school board member, I have seen the impact firsthand. In the State Senate, I will work tirelessly to fully fund public education so every student—no matter their background—has the support, opportunities, and safe schools they need to succeed. That includes expanding access to high-quality Pre-K programs, fully supporting special education, and ensuring every classroom has the resources and staff necessary to meet students where they are. Every child deserves the chance to thrive.
Affordability, Economic Fairness, and Justice
Everyday costs are rising, and Minnesotans are feeling the squeeze. Too many people are doing everything right and still struggling to get ahead as housing, groceries, healthcare, and utilities eat up more of our expenses.
I am committed to lowering everyday expenses, expanding access to affordable, comprehensive healthcare for all Minnesotans, and providing more resources for those facing drug and alcohol addiction. I will proudly advocate for workers, unions, and people with disabilities, and the rights of all Minnesotans, including reproductive and LGBTQ+ rights. Large corporations and the very wealthiest Minnesotans must pay their fair share. Families and small businesses deserve a fair shot at getting ahead and an economy that works for them, not just the powerful.
Sustainability
Sustainability means building communities that last—financially, environmentally, and socially. Smart, sustainable investments save money, improve public health, and create new opportunities—from electric school buses to solar energy projects. That also means addressing local environmental hazards and their impacts, like PFAS contamination, to protect our water, our families, and our health.
In the State Senate, I will advance practical solutions that protect our environment, safeguard our health, and drive innovation, leaving a healthier, more affordable Minnesota for the next generation.
Community & Safety
Strong communities thrive when everyone feels safe, respected, and valued. I will strengthen public safety, ensure access to critical services, and advance inclusive policies that reflect real neighborhood needs. 70% of Minnesotans support an assault weapons ban, and it’s time to act to protect our kids and our communities with common-sense gun reform in order to keep dangerous weapons out of the hands of those who would use them to harm others.
Leadership means listening, acting with compassion, and creating communities where everyone can flourish. Families should feel secure at home, students should feel safe at school, and every resident should know their voice matters.
Working Together
Real progress happens when people listen, collaborate, and find common ground. In the State Senate and in our communities, I will be a consensus-builder, working across differences to craft practical solutions that improve lives. Leadership means respect, collaboration, and action, and I’m committed to getting things done for Minnesota families and our community.
